Well control and well barrier assurance — what we do, how we do it, and what it means for your operation.
IPT Global pioneered digital pressure testing, defining a new industry standard for objective well barrier verification. Since 2010, the company has continuously evolved its technologies in collaboration with operators to address increasingly complex well assurance challenges.
Today, IPT Global reflects its origins as Innovative Performance Technologies while representing a comprehensive suite of enterprise solutions and advisory services.
Yes. In addition to the digital software solutions we provide through the SureTec platform, we also provide remote monitoring, onsite operational advisory services, field surveying and compliance, real-time monitoring, engineering verifications, well data management, barrier planning and verification, regulatory documentation, and standards, performance, and data optimization.
IPT Global works alongside industry leaders to advance well assurance intelligence through collaborative technology and enterprise-grade solutions. With deep engineering expertise and technology shaped through direct customer collaboration, IPT Global’s SureTec® platform transforms fragmented information into connected intelligence, delivering clear, consistent insight that strengthens confidence in critical decisions across the well lifecycle.
IPT Global provides digital well control and well barrier assurance solutions through our SureTec platform that give operators and drilling contractors a connected, auditable view of their critical equipment.
Our solutions are designed for operators, drilling contractors, engineering teams, and digital transformation teams. Designed with the end-user in mind, IPT Global’s solutions have been developed based on user requirements to solve challenges within your workspace.
Through the SureTec platform, IPT Global connects well schematics, digital pressure testing, equipment health monitoring, AI-enabled workflows like fault tree logic and failure tracking, and compliance verification within a single ecosystem. Information is structured, contextualized, and delivered to the right people at the right time. Intelligent capabilities strengthen validation and support decision-making, while expert teams remain actively involved in interpreting results and supporting operations
Operators gain real-time visibility into well assurance activities through a connected ecosystem that brings together testing, monitoring, visualization, and expert support. The result is reduced operational risk, improved regulatory confidence, minimized non-productive time (NPT), and more informed decisions at every stage of the well lifecycle.
Drilling contractors gain real-time insight into well barrier conditions and well control equipment performance, helping them reduce operational risk, avoid costly downtime, enhance crew safety, and execute wells more efficiently and predictably.
Engineering teams gain access to integrated workflows, real-time operational insight, and advanced analytical capabilities that support more accurate analysis, reduce uncertainty, and improve planning across the well lifecycle.
And digital transformation teams benefit from our SureTec platform, which supports digital transformation initiatives through open integrations, adaptable workflows, and connected intelligence that preserves context across systems, teams, and well phases.
Operators today are expected to deliver safe and reliable well performance in increasingly complex environments, with more data, faster operations, and tighter regulations than ever before. They need clear, reliable insights into the well barrier integrity to make confident decisions at every stage of the well lifecycle. In an environment where safety, performance, and accountability are critical, well assurance should be continuous, connected, and reliable, not fragmented and reactive.
With IPT Global, critical information flows seamlessly from one phase of the well lifecycle to the next, preserving context and maintaining continuity across teams and operations. Intelligence no longer resides solely within individual systems or personnel. It becomes connected, accessible, and actionable throughout the well lifecycle. Risks are visible, decisions are informed, and performance is consistent.
Without this shift, operators continue to face blind spots, inconsistent validation, and decisions made without a full understanding of barrier performance.
Three things that are genuinely difficult to replicate.
First, physics-based pressure test analysis. Thermally Compensated Leak Detection (TCLD) evaluates how a leak-free system should behave and compares observed data against that model — a more objective, defensible result than trend-based prediction. (See the next question for more on how TCLD works.)
Second, an integrated ecosystem rather than isolated tools. As covered above, monitoring, testing, analytics, compliance, and AI-enabled workflows all feed into a single ecosystem, so the audit package is built throughout the job instead of assembled at the end.
Third, and what sets IPT Global apart most — independent verification with regulatory standing. IPT Global holds DNV-verified capabilities and BSEE-approved inflow technology. Just as important, our compliance team operates independently of operations. That separation means the letter of verification we issue isn’t self-certification — it carries actual weight with regulators and internal stakeholders, because the people signing off aren’t the same people who ran the job.
IPT Global’s SureTec WellSchematic solution comprises two modules: WellSchematic and BarrierManagement.
WellSchematic with BarrierManagement diagrams is an integrated, data-driven well delivery workflow tool that enables operators to efficiently create, manage, and maintain digital wellbore schematics and barrier diagrams through structured data entry and dynamic rendering tools, reducing manual engineering effort, improving workflow continuity, supporting regulatory compliance, and providing a shared source of truth across the well lifecycle.
WellSchematic brings schematic visualization and barrier workflows into a single environment. Instead of manually redrawing schematics for every operation, engineers can manage well data in one place and generate consistent, up-to-date well schematics and barrier views that evolve with the well lifecycle.
Built alongside operators and designed for real operational workflows, WellSchematic helps teams maintain a centralized operational view of the well from planning through abandonment.
Raw monitoring data tells you what the equipment did. Our HealthAnalytics module tells you what that means.
It interprets BOP function data, pressure behavior, and operating trends to produce health insights and degradation signals — evaluating how equipment is performing against benchmarks and identifying changes over time. The goal is to support earlier detection of degradation before it becomes a failure, and to replace subjective equipment assessments with something more consistent and defensible.
For operations leadership, the practical benefit is better planning: maintenance decisions made on evidence rather than schedule, and fewer surprises during operations.
IPT Global’s SureTec PressureTesting solution comprises six modules: TestEngine, TestPlanner, DigitalApprovals, RemoteView, ComplianceReport, and PerformanceReport.
PressureTesting is a full-suite digital pressure testing solution built around a physics-based testing engine that delivers objective, unambiguous pass/fail results in real time, across the entire well lifecycle from shop to P&A.
The solution is built for modern engineering environments, running on cloud-based workflows that give teams access to test plans, live results, approvals, and compliance documentation from any location or device. Onshore and offshore stakeholders work from the same current view of the job, without the friction of disconnected systems or manual data transfer.
PressureTesting also doesn’t operate in isolation. Test results feed directly into Equipment Health Monitoring, contributing to a continuous picture of equipment condition and compliance. Native integration with WellSchematic anchors every test to the live well configuration, so results are always understood in the context of the full well design.
An advanced capability within the PressureTesting solution is Inflow Pressure Testing. Inflow Pressure Testing (also known as Negative Pressure Testing) is conducted to verify the integrity of well barriers in the direction of potential flow, subjecting a barrier to a negative pressure differential while monitoring for signs of a leak. In early 2026, IPT Global received the first-of-its kind approval as primary validation provider of inflow tests in the Gulf of America from the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE).
IPT Global’s FaultTree module is an AI-powered fault tree generator that uses computer vision to systematically trace fault events across BOP and well control systems.
When a BOP component fails during operations, the immediate questions are rarely simple: Can we continue? Do we need regulatory approval? What functions still work? Answering quickly, correctly, and in a way that holds up to a regulator requires a structured view of how that failure affects the overall system.
FaultTree maps exactly this. It shows how a failure in a specific component affects BOP system capability and compliance status, giving operators a structured, auditable basis for decisions that informal assessment can’t provide.
When operational decisions need to be justified, FaultTree can issue a Statement of Fact — a formal, timestamped record documenting the failure, its impact on system capability, remaining redundancy, and IPT Global’s determination of system status.
IPT Global’s PressureTesting solution is built on physics, not pattern recognition. Most pressure testing tools — including many digital systems — predict pass/fail based on early pressure trends. The problem with that approach is that early pressure decline can come from three sources at once: a real leak, normal equipment expansion, and thermal cooling effects. Trend-based tools can’t tell them apart.
IPT Global’s physics-based method, Thermally Compensated Leak Detection (TCLD), accounts for all three factors to determine whether observed pressure behavior is consistent with a truly leak-free system.
IPT’s inflow testing technology is both BSEE-approved in the United States and DNV-verified globally.
We tested this directly against two competing predictive tools using real subsea BOP data, including tests with confirmed leaks. IPT Global’s analysis caught every known failure. The competing tool passed several of them.
This isn’t a claim — it’s a result. Other clients have replicated it using their own rig data. So far, the outcome hasn’t changed.
IPT Global’s ComplianceReady module provides independent verification and assurance for well control equipment. This includes surveying, inspection, test witnessing, documentation review, failure tracking, regulatory evidence preparation, and Professional Engineer review.
The end deliverable is a Letter of Verification — a formal document issued after IPT Global has reviewed the required evidence package and determined that the well control equipment meets the applicable requirements for the engagement. It’s the product of an independent review, which is what gives it weight with regulators and internal stakeholders.
IPT Global supports clients around the world, working within the regulatory frameworks specific to each region, including BSEE in the United States, NORSOK across Norway and the Norwegian Continental Shelf, UK HSE, and API RP 53, with capability development underway for Canada, NOPSEMA in Australia, and the Middle East. Regulatory requirements differ significantly between jurisdictions and well types, so our compliance team works directly with each client to understand and meet the specific obligations that apply to their operation.
IPT Global’s Equipment Health Monitoring solution comprises four modules: Monitoring, HealthAnalytics, FaultTree, and ComplianceReady.
Equipment Health Monitoring is an integrated solution for monitoring, analyzing, and assuring the health and compliance of well control equipment, from rig-side pressure testing through continuous real-time monitoring and performance tracking to formal compliance verification.
Equipment Health Monitoring continuously streams live data from your BOP and well control equipment into machine learning models that detect deviations earlier than point-in-time assessments can. Fault tree logic and health analytics diagnose what’s happening and why, surfacing clear insight to the right people at the right time. Every assessment feeds an auditable compliance record so it’s always current and defensible.
The biggest value in Equipment Health Monitoring is that each step in the process builds on the last for a comprehensive view of your well’s health.
An advanced capability within the Equipment Health Monitoring solution is Performance Tracking, a centralized tool for tracking equipment events, failures, investigations, resolutions, and reliability data across the full lifecycle of an equipment event. It preserves the complete record—from the initial anomaly through root cause analysis to resolution—and connects failure information to broader compliance and performance workflows. For clients managing multiple rigs or a long operational history on a single asset, Performance Tracking provides the institutional memory that paper-based or siloed tracking systems consistently fail to maintain.
AI and machine learning are used within IPT Global’s SureTec platform to support anomaly detection, document ingestion, historical data import, root cause analysis workflows, OEM bulletin triage, and the development of AI-assisted fault tree generation.
The intent is to reduce manual burden and accelerate analysis — not to replace engineering judgement. Significant findings are reviewed by experienced subject matter experts before conclusions are drawn or communicated to clients. Our approach is measured and deliberate — evaluating where AI can genuinely strengthen our process while maintaining the standards our clients and end-users depend on.
IPT Global offers 24/7 real-time monitoring, which provides continuous, around-the-clock visibility into the state and behavior of well control equipment during operations. Our Real-Time Operations Center (RTOC) is staffed 24/7/365 by experienced subsea and BOP engineers who are actively reviewing live equipment data, documenting observations, and escalating when something needs attention. The system combines machine learning-enabled anomaly detection with human engineering judgement. When the algorithm flags something, an engineer reviews it. When the engineer identifies a developing issue, the proper client-designated personnel are notified.
IPT Global operates globally across the major oil and gas regions. Our operational footprint includes the Gulf of America, Canada, Guyana, South America, Europe and the North Sea, West Africa, Southeast Asia, Australia, and extensive land-based operations in the United States. We are also expanding further into the Middle East and European land-based markets.
IPT Global applies strict security controls to protect data, information flow, and confidential client information. Our software structure is designed so each client has clear visibility of their own operations while protecting information outside their individual scope.
As a software-based company working with safety-critical operational data, data integrity and client confidentiality are not optional — they’re foundational to what we do.
Yes. IPT Global’s solutions are designed to integrate with existing rig systems and digital workflows, including platforms such as DrillPlan, WellView and Horizon56. From pulling data directly from digital well plans to producing audit-ready documentation packages at the end of the process, IPT Global focuses on creating a connected workflow that reduces duplication and improves efficiency and traceability.
We work collaboratively with clients to develop practical solutions that solve the real problems faced by end users, and we are continually pursuing new integration opportunities to further streamline and optimize their workflows.
Yes. IPT Global regularly works with prospective clients to demonstrate our solutions in the context of their specific operation.
This can include a demonstration of specific solutions or modules like WellSchematic or FaultTree, or a tour of our RTOC, giving prospective clients a first-hand look at our remote monitoring capabilities in action. In some cases, it also includes independent technical evaluations using real operational data — we’ve had clients compare our pressure testing analysis directly against competing solutions using their own rig data; an evaluation that has consistently demonstrated the accuracy and reliability of our physics-based approach.
Speak to our team to discuss what a demonstration would look like for your operation.
IPT Global supports clients throughout the full operational cycle: planning and preparation, task execution, and after-action review.
Before operations begin, our Real-Time Operations Center (RTOC) can support pre-planning meetings to embed lessons learned from prior operations into upcoming procedures. During execution, the team monitors activity in real time, confirming that planned tasks are being executed as expected and flagging differences from the original scope, including incorrect lineups, potential leaks, and equipment behavior that differs from expected performance. After the task is complete, IPT Global captures lessons learned and feeds them back into future procedures.
Whether we are providing remote support or onsite field advisory services, the result is a continuous improvement cycle that benefits each individual operation while bringing wider industry learning into the planning process.
The best starting point is a direct conversation with one of our specialists. Every operation is different, so we take time to understand your rig, your workflow, and your specific challenges before recommending the right support model.
